| Raised in southern New Hampshire, Amanda's family spans the country from the Pacific Northwest to New Orleans. She has lived, studied and traveled domestically as well as throughout Europe studying art, architecture, and engineering while completing her Bachelor of Architecture degree from the PENNSYLVANIA STATE UNIVERSITY. Although tied to the historic and architectural charm of the east coast, Amanda decided in 2000 that moving across the country would provide the challenge she desired to advance her career. San Francisco quickly earned Amanda's attention, which later developed into sincere love for a city, a local design community and the landscape into which they thrive together. D E S I G N I N T E L E V I S I O N In August of 2004, Amanda joined the KNOCK FIRST team. Knock First is a lightning fast, half hour, do-it-yourself show, where teenagers transform their outdated cribs into kickin' pads. The magic happens during a two-day, all night frenzy with their best friends, a hip young designer and two handy carpenters. The show incorporates the latest new trends, plenty of music and redecorating concepts into a show that's motivating, entertaining and empowering (Scout Productions). Amanda's work with Knock First allowed her to be creative and explore areas of design at a different level...a kids level. Work was pure fun as she took her design skills to the television screen. Following Knock First, Amanda was contacted to step in as designer and co-host for the pilot episode of NBC’s fall series, THREE WISHES. Five-time Grammy-winning artist Amy Grant leads a team of experts to small towns across the country, helping to make the hopes and unbelievable dreams of deserving people a reality (Glassman Media). In the fall of 2005 Amanda joined the designers of FREESTYLE on HGTV! FreeStyle is a no-cost design show where professional re-arrangers de-clutter, reorganize and move furniture and accessories around in a room, to give homeowners a dramatic new look without spending a dime! P L A Y T I M E Aside from work, Amanda enjoys traveling, cycling the hills of Marin or running the many trails of the bay area. In 2001, she began volunteering for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's, TEAM IN TRAINING program as a mentor for fund raising and triathlon training. |
